New flat, snow, running (or not)…

So, last week I moved into a new apartment. I’m only staying there while my “real” place is being completely renovated. I’m getting a new kitchen and bathroom, new windows, they’ll put in new piping and will renew the antique electricity cables. The move went smoothly, this was the first time I had professional movers doing it (I don’t have to pay for it…). They really did a great job, and there were some difficult and many heavy items, so that really was a relief.

The new place is a bit smaller than the other but quite cute. The only problem I have at the moment, is that Telia needs 30 (!!!) days to move my internet connection. How can this take so much time? 30 days?? Really don’t get it. I mean, yes I have internet at work, but there’s so many things that we do over the internet nowadays, it’s essential (e.g. my taxes…yes, we do this online in DK).

As for the running? That is not going too well. We had a snow storm again on Tuesday (it was so bad that I left work early, which was good, as there wasn’t any transport later on…). All this snow and ice really makes it difficult to get out. I mean, at the moment I’m actually motivated. But there’s no way that I’ll go out and running on icy foot paths. I really don’t need any broken bones. Let’s hope that the snow will disappear soon, so that I can run regularly again. That would be nice.

Race no. 2

Well, today I had race no. 2. It didn’t feel as cold as last time. But we had around 10cm snow during the night, so parts of the track were really slippery. I got through it, but had to walk up a hill. In the end I was about one minute faster than last time.

The annoying bits: Why can I run the entire 5K when I do in the evenings after work but not at the race? Oh, and it’s not fun when people (i.e. men with VERY long legs), who started 10 min later than you did, run past you at km 2.5. Not motivating at all. Oh well. Next race is February 14.

Everything you need to know about sheep

Well, it’s finally time for it. My project website is getting closer and closer to being finished. It’s been online for a couple of days now and we’ll keep working on it constantly. It’s called www.maeh.dk and has everything you need to know about sheep (if you’re interested in that and kan understand Danish). www.maeh.dk is a subscription site that costs 500kr. It covers all the basic things you need to know and you have the chance to have influence on the coming subjects.

I actually already have lots of plans for where I want to go with the website, so all of this is really exciting!

Update, 5K Race No. 1

Well, I was slow, I was cold, I was ill, I HAD TO WALK for a bit. But I did in the end. And the time wasn’t too horrible. But then I had to stay in my bed for three days (that also would have happened, if I had not gone for the run). I’ll go running again on the weekend, my next race is already on January 31.

I was back to work today (all day meeting, tiring but productive) and it was good to get out of the house again. Tomorrow, I’ll be meeting with somebody from my sheep-project and then will go and drive out to Horsens to meet a sheep farmer. He’s so kind to let us take pictures on his farm, which we can use for our website, marketing, etc.

For the pictures I’m really happy to work with a photographer called Jakob Mark. He usually doesn’t do this kind of stuff, he’s actually mainly doing fashion shoots and also arty stuff. Quite contrast isn’t it? But he finds it interesting to do something different every once in a while. I’ve also seen some of his other stuff (website: http://jakobmark.com/) and I really like it :).

Oh, and btw, just in time for the shooting, I finally bought some wellingtons. So now I’m 100% prepared :).

Race Day No. 1

Well, today is the day of my first 5K. I’m slow, I have a sore throat, it’s cold, it might snow and it’s very windy. Sorry, not too positive about all that. I’m especially annoyed with my sore throat. It started completely randomly yesterday afternoon after a little nap. Why??

Well, I’m meeting with my colleague in about one hour and then we’ll see how it goes. We’re picking up our numbers at 9:30am and the race starts at 10:30. I hope that we don’t have to stand around in the cold for too long, before it all starts. Well, as I don’t have much positive to say today, I’ll just stop here and will go offline. You’ll get an update later.

I want one!

During these long dark winters, I always have so much trouble getting up. I guess for the next winter this is what I need…

It’s snowing and snowing and snowing…

Isn’t it kind of ironic that, just as the Climate Conference in Copenhagen started, which was about global warming, winter dropped on us? And I mean the temperatures just really went low (REALLY low – brrrrrr) and suddenly it snowed. And there has been snow ever since. Somebody up there has a sense of humor. I like it :). (Of course that doesn’t mean that I don’t think it’s necessary that something should be done. Because that is just essential. We HAVE to take care of our planet so much more, than we’re doing today. And who says it only costs money? With all the new technologies BILLIONS can be made!!)

Anyways, as lovely as the weather is, it makes it more difficult for me to get out and running. All the snow and ice make it sort of difficult. I was out and did a small round on Monday and I know that, if I want to get ready for my race on the 17th (even though it’s just 5K), I have to go again today. Right now I’m not looking forward to it. It’s snowing. It’s freezing. The wind feels horrible. Oh well, at least I’m not doing any long runs at the moment. If I had to be out there for about an hour, I would never be able to motivate myself. Oh, and I have warm feet now, so that’s ok as well. But still, for my running I would love to have snow- and ice-free streets. Please?!?
